KitKat 4.4.2 rolling out to Galaxy S3 and Note 2 in United States
It seems that May 29th is the day that two major US carriers have decided to rollout the latest Android update to older devices. Sprint has begun the rollout of Android 4.4.2 to their Galaxy Note 2 and US Cellular is starting their roll out for Galaxy S3 starting today.
The Android 4.4.2 update will introduce a few more features to the device, including advanced location control, camera shortcuts, full-screen album artwork on the lock screen, a new version of KNOX, and a plethora of KitKat related improvements. The update for the Galaxy Note 2 should be showing up shortly while the update for the Galaxy S3 has been rolling out since last night. If you own the devices and are on either of the carriers, you can check to see if the update is waiting for you by going to Settings > General > About Phone > Software Updates.
While updates to the 3G version of the Samsung Galaxy S3 were pulled officially by Samsung due to hardware limitations, the LTE version of the device is still seeing the KitKat love that newer devices have been enjoying. Expect the rollout to continue across other carriers in the United States in the coming days.
If you’ve received the updated to Android 4.4.2 on your Sprint Galaxy Note 2 or US Cellular Galaxy S3, let us know in the comments and be sure to mention where you’re located!
