Moto E: Motorola unveils its new budget smartphone

The Moto G is no longer the budget smartphone in Motorola’s portfolio. This title has now been snatched by a Motorola newcomer, the Moto E. Up for sale for INR 6999, which is approximately 117 USD and 89 pounds, the 4-inch smartphone has just been announced in London and New Delhi.

We’ve been hearing rumors and catching glimpses of the device on the web in the past weeks and the official announcement has arrived straight from India. Canada, UK, Germany, Brazil, Mexico and Spain will be seeing the new device launch in their countries today, but we’ve heard nothing about the US as of yet. There is also no official price for most of those countries as of yet, besides India of course.

Motorola’s self-proclaimed goal with the Moto E is to bring an end to the age of the classic feature phones, making the newcomer an entry-level device. The Moto E will also include exchangeable back covers just like the Moto G. An guaranteed update to future Android releases has also been promised by Motorola as well, meaning perhaps Android 4.5 or 5.0.
An advantage over the Moto G is that Motorola has now included a micro SD slot for extra memory up to 32 GB. Perhaps they’ve learned their lesson considering that this feature is often a make-it-or-break-it deal for many customers. The Moto E will be available black, turquoise and lemon color options and include 3 color covers.
