Verizon Galaxy Note 3 finally gets KitKat

You may find this hard to believe if you're not a Verizon customer, but if you are a Galaxy Note 3owner on big red you are only just getting the update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat today. And the OTA is not even rolling out properly yet, so you'll need to push the update manually via Kies.

Samsung started to roll out KitKat for the Note 3 way back in January, so what has taken Verizon so long? Well, they are notoriously slow at releasing updates for their devices, typically citing a grueling certification and testing process, but anyone sticking with Verizon as a carrier is bound to be used to this by now. Still, rocking Jelly Bean when every other carrier-branded Note 3's have had KitKat for months must be tough.
You can read about the changes you can expect to see with KitKat on the Note 3, although we haven't see a Verizon changelog for the update yet. Considering the significant delays involved in a Verizon firmware update, I have to ask the question: do you appreciate the additional care taken to ensure a stable update or do you choose carriers based on the speed of their firmware updates?
