10 coolest Nexus 5 cases of all time
We love the Nexus 5 here at AndroidPIT, and while some of us think we are too cool to actually protect the thing, some of us are so clumsy they're on their second or third Nexus 5 already. So if you don't feel like spending the money you saved by buying a Nexus 5 on getting another one when your drop the first, here's out picks for the ten coolest cases around for the Nexus 5.
For the Star Wars nerd
There's nothing to be said about this case. If it's for you there's nothing I can say that will make you buy it any faster than you probably already are. For the Star Wars geeks out there, who wouldn't want Han Solo frozen in carbonite immortalized on the back of a smartphone named after the Bladerunner franchise? It doesn't get much more sci-fi invested than this for just 9.79 EUR.
For the purist
If you're of the elite that has never even touched an Android outside the Nexus line, for fear of being sullied by the experience, then there's really no two ways about it: you need an official LG QuickCover for your Nexus 5, sold direct from the Play Store, where all good Nexuses come from. If a front-flip cover is not quite your style you can also grab the official Google bumper case for the Nexus 5 instead. They'll set you back 29.99/39.99 USD respectively.
For the SWAT Team
If you see yourself as a bit of urban assault type or perhaps an outdoor maniac that tends to damage your phone a lot through drops and the like, then perhaps you need this tactical hard case from Future Armor to protect your beloved while you're on a mission. 5.99 USD isn't a bad investment on some tactical gear for your Nexus 5.
For the executive
If you're a suited, briefcased and gentlemanly type that needs a smartphone case to match your latest dinner jacket, then the Supcase could be just as important to your self-presentation as your business card. It's all leather – so not exactly ideal for the animal-friendly – but it's got nice credit card sleeves and doubles as stand for watching art house French films whilst on those pesky long haul international business class commutes. At 14.99 USD on Amazon, it's a business deal worth closing.
For the collector
If you're on an NSA-style mission to collect the fingerprints of everyone you know then you can't go past this super slick looking fingerprint magnet made of aluminum. You can grab this on Deal Extreme for 4.54 USD and start amassing your database of all of your ''can I just borrow your phone for a sec?'' friends.
For the minimalist
If you want some added protection but don't want to cover up the beauty of your Nexus 5, then you need a crystal clear case from Ringke Fusion. This one will set you back just under 10 bucks from Amazon but it will keep your beauty intact without making it look like it's wrapped in bubble wrap.
For the shutterbug
There's something super cool about old cameras, which is probably why they have been seeing such a renaissance of late. If you want all the convenience of your digital camera embedded in your smartphone, but want to pass yourself off as a hipster vintage photographer when you Instagram your lunch, then this is the case for you. Get a retro Leica M6 look on this case from 9.79 EUR.
For the power hungry
If your Nexus 5 is always losing juice, perhaps you need a little more gogo in your case mojo. That's where the i-Blason PowerGlider comes in, which will add an extra 2,500 mAh to your power source, as well as providing a rather nicely designed rubberized case for your precious. It's not the cheapest option, but for 64.95 USD you can double the runtime of your Nexus 5.
For the hipster
I miss my GameBoy, but perhaps not so much that I want to play it again. But the look of the thing that started it all...now that's another story. What this case lacks in smooth lines and slickness it makes up for in hipster cache. Lay this thing down on the table while you sip your latte and you've have a bevy of bearded musicians/poets/performance artists coming up to congratulate you on your retro styling. Available for 8.94 USD on Amazon.
For the lumberjack
If you need timber at all costs, then check out the awesome collection by Carved. There's a style to suit everyone, from jigsaw puzzles to etched timer designs to walnut, redwood and ash grains. Prices range from 26-36 USD but these are some of the coolest cases for the Nexus 5 I've seen.
What's your favorite case for the Nexus 5? How many cases do you have?
